Introduction

Harley’s Limited is a leading provider of healthcare and wellbeing solutions in East Africa, with a solid foundation in pharmaceutical importation and distribution. The company began its journey in 1953 as a retail chemist in Kisumu, Kenya. Over the decades, Harley’s has evolved into a regional healthcare player with operational hubs in Nairobi, Mombasa, Eldoret, Dar es Salaam and Kampala.

 

In 2023, Harley’s became a member of the Mauritian IBL Group, ushering in a new era of strategic growth and cross-border expansion. Leveraging its robust supply chain and distribution network, Harley’s remains committed to improving access to quality healthcare across East Africa.

Harley’s Limited Key Milestones

The transition from inception to date

2023

Harley’s Limited became a member of the Mauritian IBL Group, strengthening its position as a regional provider of healthcare and wellbeing solutions across East Africa. The focus shifted to operational integration, regional expansion and digital transformation, while maintaining its commitment to long-term partnerships and service excellence.

2010 - 2020

Expanded into Uganda and Tanzania, and diversified its product lines to include pharmaceuticals, OTC, ophthalmic products, surgical equipment and cosmetics. Partnered with global suppliers and grew the team to over 500 employees across East Africa.

2000

Harley’s Limited expanded into a regional distributor with offices in Nairobi, Mombasa and Eldoret. The company became a key supplier to over 5,000 chemists, 700 hospitals, 60+ NGOs, and public sector agencies like KEMSA and county hospitals.

1975

Transitioned into a family-owned business following a management buy-out, with a focus on the importation and distribution of pharmaceuticals, OTC products, surgical and medical equipment.

1953

Harley’s Limited started as a retail chemist in Kisumu.
