Susan Muraya
From Sales Representative to Strategic Leader – Susan Muraya’s 14–Year Journey of Growth at Harley’s Ltd
From her first role straight out of high school to becoming the Channel Business Manager for OTC Channels at Harley’s Limited, Susan Muraya’s journey is a remarkable story of grit, growth and giving back.
Ask her to describe herself in three words, and she doesn’t hesitate: “Kaizen Lady, analytical, growth-oriented.” Kaizen, the Japanese philosophy of continuous improvement, isn’t just a buzzword for Susan; it’s the mantra behind every decision, every strategy and every milestone she has achieved.
Climbing the Ladder – With Purpose
“It’s been an amazing 14 years of progressive experience,” she reflects. “I began as a Sales Representative, then moved on to be a Supervisor, a Sales and Marketing Manager and now a Channel Business Manager.”
Over the years, Susan has built deep expertise in sales, marketing, customer service and operations. One of her proudest achievements? Leading a category transformation at Naivas Supermarket, Kenya’s top retail chain. As project lead, she reorganized the Para Pharmacy category planogram, boosting visibility for brands like Deep Heat, Strepsils and Vitabiotics. The result? A stunning 33% increase in category sales.
Susan is not just climbing the corporate ladder, she is reshaping it. “I’ve always strived to add value and create a positive impact in everything I do,” she says.
From School to Strategy
What makes Susan’s story even more impressive is her relentless pursuit of personal and professional development. While working full-time, she earned her Master in Commerce (Strategic Option) at Strathmore Business School and became an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (ACIM).
“I joined Harley’s straight from high school,” she shares. “I was eager to grow and stay ahead of industry trends.” Today, she continues to learn, lead and inspire.
Juggling the Glass and Rubber Balls
When asked about work-life balance, Susan offers a metaphor that says it all: “Life is about juggling five balls; job, family, friends, spirit and health. Some are rubber and others are glass. You have to know which ones can fall, and which ones you must protect.”
Intentionality is the key, she adds. “It’s about knowing which ball matters most in each season of life.”
No Regrets, Just Growth
Would she do anything differently if she could start over? “Nothing,” she answers. “I believe in continuous improvement – live, learn and grow.”
A Life of Impact
For Susan, Harley’s isn’t just a place of work – it’s a purpose-driven space. “It feels good knowing that I’m part of a team that provides healthcare solutions to society.”
With her focus on lifelong learning, impact-driven leadership and an unshakable growth mindset, Susan Muraya is not just navigating the business world; she’s shaping it.
